Job Description Job Description Job title Crisis Worker- Residential Job Type Full-time Position Reports to: Program Director Position Summary Under the authority of Management, the Mental Health Crisis Worker provides immediate, compassionate, and professional support to individuals experiencing mental health or behavioral health crises. This position delivers services across multiple crisis response settings, including crisis residential units, crisis hotline/telephone support, and mobile crisis outreach. The Crisis Worker is responsible for de-escalation, assessment, safety planning, and connection to ongoing care to ensure stabilization and continuity of support for clients in distress. *Position is: Residential Shift: Tuesday to Saturday 4:30pm - 12:30am Salary: 21.12 per hour Major Responsibilities Crisis Residential Services Provide direct client care and support within a short-term crisis stabilization or residential setting. Conduct intake assessments, safety evaluations, and individualized crisis stabilization plans. Monitor clients’ emotional and physical well-being, ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment. Facilitate groups, skills coaching, and supportive interventions as part of treatment programming. Collaborate with clinical staff, case managers, and medical providers to coordinate care and discharge planning. Essential Duties and Functions include the following: Crisis Telephone Services Answer crisis hotline calls and provide immediate emotional support, risk assessment, and crisis intervention. Utilize active listening and trauma-informed communication to engage callers in distress. Conduct suicide risk and danger assessments following agency protocols. Develop collaborative safety plans and provide referrals to mental health, medical, or community resources. Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation of all calls. Mobile Crisis Services Respond in person to individuals experiencing mental health crises in the community, home, or other settings Work collaboratively with law enforcement, EMS, hospitals, and social service agencies. Provide on-site crisis de-escalation, mental status assessment, and stabilization interventions. Determine the least restrictive and most supportive options for care (e.g., voluntary treatment, crisis residential, hospitalization). Ensure follow-up and linkage to appropriate aftercare services. Administrative Complete all documentation as required by RHD, Funder, licensing/accreditation entities. Community Interaction Community Involvement and teamwork including but not limited to providing referral and other case management services for consumers and families at times of contact, either on the phone, in the community, or with the resident prior to discharge. Other duties as assigned Qualifications Bachelor’s degree preferred with major course work in sociology, social work, psychology, gerontology, nursing, counseling, or related field. Bachelor’s degree with major course work in anthropology, political science, history, criminal justice, theology, education, or related field, and 2 years of behavioral health direct care experience. High school diploma or equivalency and 12 semester credit hours in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, or other social science and 2 years of experience in public or private human services, with one year behavioral health direct care experience. Problem Solving and Conflict Resolution: Approaches challenges with a solution-focused mindset, resolving issues in a fair and timely manner, while maintaining professionalism and promoting a positive atmosphere. Adherence to Policies and Procedures: Ensures compliance with all regulatory and organizational standards, maintaining a safe, respectful, and efficient residential environment. Well-organized and detail orientated Excellent Customer service skills (both internal and external) Strong interpersonal and communication skills Leadership and management skills Resident relations and retention Knowledge and understanding of state and federal regulations regarding group home/ residential care Behavioral issue management and crisis intervention skills Compliance with regulatory standards Proficiency in direct supervision, developmental disabilities care and medication administration Life saving measures (CPR) and first aid certifications Budget management Previous supervisor/management experience in group home/residential setting Medical terminology knowledge Working conditions This position is set in a residential or community environment. While performing the duties of the job, employees are frequently required to stand, walk, lift, and reach. Must be willing to perform all job-related travel associated with this position.
