production assembly team at Thorlabs Measurement Systems assembles
precision, multiprobe video measurement systems, their
subassemblies, and associated metrology products. This position
operates among a diverse team of assemblers, technicians, and
engineers, conducting daily assembly tasks under the guidance of
experienced team members. While this position is based in Sparta,
NJ, up to 10% travel may be required to customer locations and
other Thorlabs sites. Essential Job Functions include the following
, but are not limited to: Ability to understand written and oral
procedures for a wide range of products, subassemblies, and system
builds. Executes assigned builds within the required timeframe, to
the highest of quality standards, and in compliance with the
specified build procedure and Bill of Materials. Conducts Quality
Control inspections as specified in the written or oral procedures.
Assists with documenting and improving build procedures at the
direction of the production manager. Communicates discrepancies
between procedures and the Bill of Materials when identified, to
ensure inventory is accurate and corrective actions are
implemented. Assists assembly technicians with final adjustments
and calibration of systems. Requests clarification from the
appropriate personnel when instructions are not clear or
understood. Assists in inventory cycle-counting as required and
notifies supervisor of low stock levels. Cross-trains other
employees on mastered builds, to provide flexibility and support
across production operations. In addition to the essential
functions and duties listed above, all positions are also
responsible for: Meeting company standards pertaining to quantity
and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all
work-related tasks in a manner that follows all Company policies
and procedures. Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and
directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing
job duties and assignments. The Company retains the right to change
or assign other duties to this position. Physical Activities: Work
may be active, could stand or sit for long durations and/or perform
repetitious work at times. The employee may lift or move objects up
to 40 pounds. Employees must grasp, manipulate, or assemble parts
and components that are often very small. The noise level in the
work environment is usually moderate, however, may be noisy at
times. Must be able to wear appropriate clothing and personal
protective equipment such as but not limited to masks, glasses,
gloves, and specialty garments. The required PPE and training allow
for the safe handling and processing of chemicals like adhesives,
lubricants and solvents, and safe operation of jobrelated equipment
and Requirements Experience: Minimum 2 years of prior experience in
a similar position required. Education: High School diploma or
equivalent Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Experience working
with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment. Ability to
interpret, follow, edit, and provide feedback on written work
instructions. Good written and verbal communication skills. Strong
attention to detail and organization skills. Ability to work well
in a team environment and comply with high quality standards.
Ability to function autonomously with minimal supervision.
Flexibility/adaptability in a fast-paced & dynamic environment. Pay
Range for this position is $18.00 -$22.00 per hour depending on
