Position Description:
Assist with and participate in day-to-day department related
and supervised activities to build foundational knowledge and gain
experience
working in a leading insurance brokerage. Assist with departmental
and/or client-support
activities for specific lines of insurance coverage. Depending on
business
need, the intern assignment will be dedicated to a business
function and
department located in California, Connecticut or New Jersey.
Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities:
- Take direction from manager and work closely with department
team to execute work assignments.
- Gain exposure to insurance brokerage processes and
practices.
- Assist in processing routine paperwork related to client
accounts, with management oversight.
- Assist in issuance of documentation in response to various
client requests; may include Certificates of Insurance (COI),
automobile insurance cards, premium bordereau reports, and Wrap-Up
documents.
- Perform data entry into Risk Management Information System
(RMIS) and electronic filing systems, required to maintain
integrity and accuracy of data.
- Assist in creating presentations and may present to department
manager and team members.
- Conduct research and perform data analysis to learn and
understand different insurance lines of coverage.
- Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as
assigned.Insurance:
- Conduct research on insurance rates.
- Coordinate and prepare routine rate verification letters as
directed, based on approved rates evidenced in client's insurance
programs.
- Assist with schedule of insurance for clients working under
direction of Broker, Producer, or Account Executive.
- Assist with Insurance Manuals updates to reflect program
changes.
- Assist with identifying coverage renewals and preparing
submissions to insurance carriers.
Assist with preparing renewal and other client presentations.Office
Support
- Assist with development of Uniform Record Storage and Data
Retention initiative, shared virtual storage warehouse to be
utilized and accessible by entire TSIB organization.
- Gather and upload omitted annual renewal submissions, quote
documents, annual renewal binders, and annual renewal policies from
past years.
- Gather and upload submissions and quote documents, and project
specific binders and policies into individual folders by client,
project, and policy type.
- Confirm and update schedules of insurance to ensure policy
exists (if not, add it) and to ensure policy information is
accurate or policy information reflects new policy data captured as
a result of above program renewal and project specific
efforts.Claims:
- Contact contractors for delinquent payroll reporting.
- Collect and process Certificate of Insurance (CoI)
information.Surety:
- Prepare Corporate Acknowledgement sets for Surety team to
execute Surety Bonds.
- Prepare shipping slips.
- File documents and correspondence into RMIS software.Finance:
- Assist with relieving direct bill receipts, preparing journal
entries for month-end and insurance billings.
- Assist with Accounts Payable indexing for vendor payments.
- Assist with preparing ACH (Automated Clearing House) /wire
templates for carrier payments.
- Assist with posting social media, as directed.
- Assist with podcast episode production.
- Pull appropriate resumes and project experiences of employees
included in Request for Proposal (RFP) responses.
Qualifications:
- Enrolled in college or university offering accredited degree
program in field of study, recommended majors include, and not
limited to, Accounting, Finance, Business Management, Marketing,
Insurance Management, or other related degree, with minimum of 1
year of education, or equivalent combination of education,
training, and experience
- Must be willing to work assigned hours, required
- Make efficient use of work hours with ability to ask questions,
request prioritization of responsibilities, and complete tasks in
timely manner
- Passionate and willing to learn about overall company, business
operations, culture, and core values
- Demonstrate interpersonal skills including student leadership,
